Although there are a bunch a different ways to save on your electric bill, i’m only going to chat about 10 of them.
- Seal Your Home
Caulking around windows and weather stripping are a great way to lower the use of energy and keep money in your pockets throughout the year! You can also use foam gaskets to seal electrical sockets! These outlets are a major source of heat/air loss but the gaskets will help to save energy!
- Turn off electronic devices
Electronics pull out lots of power even when they’re not in use! Whoa! If you’re not using them, unplug them. Stop wasting electricity! Plug them into power strips and when you’re done using your beloved electronics, simply turn the power strip off!
- Use LED lights around the house
Not only does LED lights save you money but they are also better for the environment and helps to improve your health! LED lights use up to 90% less energy and can save you a pretty penny in unnecessary utility bills.
- Run your appliances at night
Did you know that utility companies usually charge higher rates during peak hours?! Which is during the day! OMG! Most people use the washer/dryer or dishwasher during the daytime but switch it up and use them at night!
- Get a digital Thermostat
Set your thermostat on temps between 76-78 degrees. Try not to take your temp up and down. Digital thermostats can save you energy and money on your electric bill.
Time to get creative and use DIY wool dryer balls. These will help reduce heat needed to dry your clothes and make them even softer than ever! If possible dry your clothes outside during the summer months! I know… Old school but it’s worth every dollar you’ll save! lol
- Change the HVAC filters monthly
Changing your ac/heating filters can save you up to $65 a year.
- Energy Film
This is a transparent window film that reduces heat in the summer and heat loss in the winter. Can’t wait to try this!!!
- Hang light colored curtains
Light colored curtains will help to keep your house cool and that unwanted heat during the summer months! Plus it’ll brighten up your home!
- Use cold water often
When washing either laundry or dishes, try to use more cool water and hot! Less work your water heater tank will have to do.
